Jelly Roll Sampler and Flannel Quilt

I am so glad Kris at Dandelion Quilts posted about the Moose on the Porch Jelly Roll Quilt Along, as I never would have found it otherwise.

It looks like good fun and will help me do something different with a jelly roll from my stash - I normally do quickly rotary cut and chain pieced things with jelly rolls.

I am using Patisserie by Fig Tree Quilts. I was worried the fabrics wouldn't have enough contrast but I am pretty happy with my first block (above) even though a couple of my seams don't match properly.

Sug finally found another napping spot yesterday and I got back to basting my quilt. I have really lightly quilted it with in the ditch stitching. Just enough to hold it together really. I've had trouble getting my tension right the last few times I've tried to free motion quilt, so just wanted something quick and easy this time.

Your first block looks great. Gosh you finished quilting quickly! I take weeks to quilt my quilts. It is lovely. Ann :-)

Oooh, the fabrics in your block are so pretty! And your quilt turned out wonderfully -- does Sug think it's hers now? ;-)

I have that line, too...and I almost used it. Your block is great. I am so glad you are joining in the fun on that! You know, I was having problems with my machine when free motioning and so I picked up some of these bobbin washers at Clothtide.com because this other blogger who free motions all the time said they were great. I haven't tried them yet, but I hope they help me with some of the grief I get!

Ps. just gone back on my diet and the word verification word for my comment is "eatoims"...sounds like eat 'ems to me..that's just plain cruel! LOL

I keep seeing this quilt a long on blogs that I am reading... makes me want to join in, but instead of a jelly roll, I might just use scraps from my stash!...good to have you back blogging. Cheers!
